Genius Dreaming Mind of Scientist Tesla

In most of the cases, stories are similar in one moment – when dream was imagined and visualized then storm of ideas comes and change our dream state – from dreaming state to doing state. How many times have you heard about first bestseller book that has been written in a few week after the idea was born and visualized?

In sphere of science, dreaming mind of Nikola Tesla, one of the most fascinating scientists of the 20th century was able to make entire prototype tests and designs of his inventions only using power of his mind, dreams and visualisation.

Looks like every dream begins with imagination and visualization. Story about genius inventor and scientist Nikola Tesla always inspire me, because of his great contribution to science, but also because highly unusual manner in which this genius first dreamed of his inventions and then made of them such inventions that for certain, have changed course of human history, evolution and development of the whole human society and had change the world with the electricity.

There are three moments which preceded the implementation of his achievements: Imagination, Visualization, Dreaming.

Imagination 

In the book „My Inventions: The Autobiography of Nikola Tesla“, Tesla said about imagination and early impulses: „Our first endeavors are purely instinctive, promptings of an imagination vivid and undisciplined. Those early impulses, though not immediately productive, are of the greatest moment and may shape our very destinies. Indeed, I feel now that had I understood and cultivated instead of suppressing them, I would have added substantial value to my bequest to the world. But not until I had attained manhood did I realize that I was an inventor.“

Visualization 

Tesla had strong power of visualization. His power of visualization was so brilliant that he could clearly see an object that even didn’t existed in the real world. He was able to make dream experiments in his mind.

“Every night, (and sometimes during the day), when alone, I would start on my journeys – see new places, cities and countries; live there, meet people and make friendships and acquaintances and, however unbelievable, it is a fact that they were just as dear to me as those in actual life, and not a bit less intense in their manifestations. This I did constantly until I was about seventeen, when my thoughts turned seriously to invention.

• Then I observed to my delight that I could visualize with the greatest facility.
• I needed no models, drawings or experiments. I could picture them all as real in my mind.
• My method is different. I do not rush into actual work.
• When I get an idea I start at once building it up in my imagination.
• I change the construction, make improvements and operate the device in my mind.
• It is absolutely immaterial to me whether I run my turbine in thought or test it in my shop.
• I even note if it is out of balance.
• There is no difference whatever, the results are the same.
• In this way I am able to rapidly develop and perfect a conception without touching anything.
• When I have gone so far as to embody in the invention every possible improvement I can think of and see no fault anywhere, I put into concrete form this final product of my brain.
• Invariably my device works as I conceived that it should, and the experiment comes out exactly as I planned it.
• In twenty years there has not been a single exception. Why should it be otherwise?“

Visual thinking

This thinking phenomenon describes thinking in visual mode. It is also called Right brained learning, Picture thinking, Visual spatial learning. Before Tesla inventions were born in the real world, he built in his mind all preliminary work, without drawings and physical prototypes tests. One of the rare scientist who was also visual thinker was Albert Einstein. Thanks to this method he created his Theory of special relativity.

Dreams and lucid dreams

Lucid dreaming is a phenomenon established in the 1980s and occurs in REM sleep. The subject who is dreaming is aware of dreaming, capable of conscious control over their dreams and of recalling dream experience during wakeful state.
