10 things we can learn from Peter Pan

1. Dreams

Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.

You know that place between sleep and awake, that place where you can still remember dreaming?

2. Time

I suppose it’s like the ticking crocodile, isn’t it? Time is chasing after all of us.

Never is an awfully long time.

Fairies have to be one thing or the other, because being so small they unfortunately have room for one feeling only at a time.

3. Flying

When you are sleeping in your silly bed you might be flying about saying funny things to the stars.

I taught you to fight and to fly. What more could there be?

I’ll teach you how to jump on the wind’s back, and then away we go.

4. Believing

All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.

Every time you say you don’t believe in fairies, a fairy dies.

..children know such a lot now, they soon don’t believe in fairies, and every time a child says, ‘I don’t believe in fairies,’ there is a fairy somewhere that falls down dead.

For to have faith, is to have wings.

5. Doubt

The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.

6. Adventure

Would you like an adventure now, or would like to have your tea first?

To live will be an awfully big adventure.

7. Growing up

There is a saying in the Neverland that, every time you breathe, a grown-up dies.

All children, except one, grow up.

7. Eternal return

All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again.

8. Absence

Absence makes the heart grow fonder… or forgetful.

9. Perspective

I’m youth, I’m joy, I’m a little bird that has broken out of the egg.

10. Unfairness

No one ever gets over the first unfairness; no one except Peter.

Never say goodbye because goodbye means going away and going away means forgetting.
